Promise Rings For Women

While many people believe that a promise ring is a pre-engagement ring and it may be in certain circumstances, promise rings for women can be given to signify any type of promise made between two people. Here are just a few of the more popular reasons to give a promise ring.

Pre-engagement

There are many reasons why a couple may have to hold off getting engaged or married but, want to make a commitment to each other that they do intend to marry in the future. In such cases, a promise ring can be used to seal that commitment and the promise to be true to one another.

Abstinence

In some cases where a teenage or adult child has promised to abstain from sexual   intercourse until marriage a parent may give their child a promise ring as a reminder of that promise. The person then making the promise usually wears the promise ring on their wedding finger knowing someday the ring will be replaced by the wedding ring.

Substance Abstinence

In some cases a child make a promise to a parent or one spouse to another that will abstain from some substance such as drugs or alcohol and then may be given a promise ring as a symbol of the promise they made. In such cases, having a symbol of such a promise may help to give the owner of the ring the courage to keep their vow.

Monogamy

In some cases, couples who choose not marry exchange rings and person vows to be monogamous to one another. In these cases these rings may often take on the symbolism of the wedding ring to those who wear them.

Whatever the reason for giving a promise ring, the promise made should be understood by both the giver and the receiver. There is nothing worse than giving someone a ring promising to be monogamous and them mistaking it as a proposal of marriage.

There are also other considerations that should go into present a promise ring to a someone. First, though diamonds are certainly acceptable in promise rings, if you are later going to present the woman with a diamond engagement ring you might want to choose a different stone for the promise ring. Perhaps, even a semi precious gem so that when you do present that engagement ring, it will be all the more special because of the diamond.

You will also want the promise ring to made of high quality metal. If the promise given is deemed worthy of giving a ring as a reminder of the pledge then it should have the same worth and value as the pledge that was given.

While promise rings can be given to both women and men, promise rings given to women are often more meaningful. Having a ring to remind them of whatever promise or vow they undertook will, for most women increase their determination to keep that promise. Do to that fact, promise rings should not be given lightly and only in cases where the promise is considered important.
